Newberry Geothermal is a geothermal exploration and project development company that holds leases of 40,000 acres around the Newberry Volcano. The Newberry Volcano is one of the largest and youngest volcanoes in the US, consisting of over 400 individual volcanic vents, which, when combined, form a broad mounded landform referred to as a shield volcano that covers an area in excess of 600 square miles. The Newberry Volcano is considered to be a "hot volcano" having erupted at least 25 times in the last 10,000 years. The site could yield over 100 MW of geothermal capacity.
